I am pleased to announce the release of GNU Ocrad 0.28. GNU Ocrad is an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program and library based on a feature extraction method. It reads images in png or pnm formats and produces text in byte (8-bit) or UTF-8 formats. Ocrad includes a layout analyser able to separate the columns and blocks of text normally found on printed pages. Ocrad can be used as a stand-alone console application, or as a backend to other programs. (Before you needed to run 'make AR=<ar_command>'. * The version test macro 'OCRAD_API_VERSION' and the function 'OCRAD_api_version' are now declared in the header file 'ocradlib.h'. They tell to the application the version of the library. * Many minor fixes and improvements have been made.
