Re: Edu-EU Digest, Vol 48, Issue 1

Hi out there,

I'm using software for interactive boards (mainly Promethean) a lot und 
teaching techers in using it. I haven't tried out Sankore on a real 
board yet, but this should work, when board-driver is installed.
My impression is, that Sankore looks a kind of simple and reduced, but 
quite useful due to this. It has the main functions of commercial, 
proprietary software (desktop-view, presentation-view, design-view). 
Another pro is the multi-platform-capability.

But: It is called opensource and claims to use an open standard. Where 
do you find the first and where is the documentation of the UBZ-format? 
In beginning of the hype around interactive boards some companies at 
least tried to find a standard for interactive presentations, and so you 
can im- and export files between Promethean and Smart (this works far 
beyond perfectly, but it works). There seems to be no way of doing this 
in Sankore. There are also only very little information about the 
developers, or did I missed something?

With these topics I wouldnt recommend Sankore yet, although it would be 
wonderful to have such a open software.
