After last month's, engaging, well attended talk from Aidan McGuire, 
where he talked about the challenges faced by small company's based 
around Free Software products and the problems the Free Software 
movement faces  today.


Stuart Langridge (also known as Aq) of LUGRadio fame joining us for a 
talk about his experiences with free software.
"A well known and well respected web and Javascript developer, Stuart is 
known for his development prowess both inside and outside the web world. 
In addition to his web work, he has written two books about Javascript 
and AJAX development, has written various Javascript libraries and is 
the author of the popular implementation of various desktop widgets for 
GNOME, known as Jackfield. Opinionated, and possessing thick ginger 
locks, you always know when Aq is near."


Next Month we have Alex Hudson from the Bongo Project, who will be 
joining us on March 18th.

He’s going to be talking about freeing proprietary software and the 
control of free software projects.
Alex Hudson is an established UK-based free software author and 
supporter. As well as being involved in anti-software patent activity in 
the UK, and free software issues in Europe generally, he is also leads 
the Bongo Project, bringing excitement and va-va-voom to free software 
mail and calendaring. He doesn’t like the word “groupwareâ€.

we'll probably go to the Fab Cafe, as it's virtually next door to the 
venue, and cheap.

If you're coming from outside of Manchester, the venue is close to
Piccadilly.

(easily within walking distance of Piccadilly Station, allow quarter of 
an hour with some idea where you are going.)

What is Manchester Free Software?

Manchester Free Software was formed in response to a growing apparent
need for a group based in the Manchester area that focuses on Free
Software and GNU/Linux primarily, but also on issues such as Digital
Restrictions Management and other issues which infringe on the freedoms
of computer users.

Everybody is welcome to the meetings, but you will be particularly
interested in the meetings if you are interested in the activities of
the Free Software Foundation, GNU Project, League for Programming
Freedom and the GNU/Linux operating system.
