Thanks to Bob Mottram (of FreedomBone https://freedombone.net/) for this information. You do need to use uboot / uEnv.txt values different to the vmdebootstrap example, particularly: loadaddr=3D0x82000000 initrd_addr=3D0x88080000 fdtaddr=3D0x88000000 Since Debian Buster is soon to be released then it is best to develop on this anyway. Do note that vmdebootstrap is not going to be in Buster (and beyond) so consider moving to an alternative.
