public discussions, email, NNTP, feeds, and this group

I'm a big fan of public discussions and, as I wrote about in my 
blog [1], I think that ultimately public discussions (and 
probably private discussions) are going to be based on feeds 
(XML). But, at the moment, public discussions take place in 
email, blogs, NNTP groups, and all kinds of web-based forums. 
Since I want to support open systems and discourage closed 
systems, I tend to avoid web-based forums that do not provide an 
open standard way to access the messages (e.g., via NNTP, IMAP, 
or a feed). The dilemma I've had for a long time is this: What 
is the best way to publicly discuss Infinite-Ink-related stuff? 
I don't really want to have multiple Infinite Ink public 
discussion areas [2], but until feed clients are better and 
integrated into email clients [3], I think I'm going to have at 
least two public discussion areas:

 * this discussion group
 * my blog <http://deflexion.com/>

The reason this group has been quiet for so long is because I 
was trying out the blog/feed way of discussion. I'm still going 
to continue experimenting with that, but certain types of 
discussion make more sense here. I'm not sure what the logic is 
that distinguishes these, but maybe we will figure that out as 
we actually use them!
