this IS relevant. The guy says: He's got a Plone site that has been running
without problems for two months, and now suddenly he is receiving this
error. The error is exactly the same that we are receiving. He says he has
no idea why this happens and asks for help. Unfortunately, nobody answered.
This was in September 2003....

It is interesting to note that in both our case and his case, joining the
site was possible in the beginning and then suddenly the error came up.
