I would say I am almost an extremist on individual freedom. But lets look at what you are saying in context. Red HAT makes a Linux distribution. It is distributed under conditions that are probably "More Free" than even some other vendors. I can think of several projects over the last five years that are basically "red hat with..." (Low Memory|486|Better security|NSA extensions|Whatever) NOW Red hat sponsors a certification program.. One can study on how to use Linux (with naturally a slant to the red hat version) and if you can prove you know your stuff when you take a test under normal exam conditions, you can get a certificate that has proven to open some employment doors. IN addition they have a deal with a commercial training outfit that has some pay-per-view courseware based on Flash and Java. The course ware is under a typical Pay-per-view arrangement that you cannot re-use the content. I would guess that a strong student of Linux could achieve the required scores on the tests without using the RedHat courseware. I know I manage to use Linux without having a RH certification. Someone who wants to create a course that covers the required material for the certificate is free to create same from scratch, or modify a general course they already present to cover the needed topics. Yes, I don't personally use flash - it is not installed in my copy of Mozilla at home (but is installed in Konqurer for the odd site that I want to see that wont let you get past the front page without flash) Anyway, if you want to learn/ use Red HAT or other flavour of Linux, you DON'T have to sue any closed software. If you wish to purchase the "Official" version you have to meet the terms of the Licensee. Why are we wasting time on this?
