All 'rights' involve the removal or restriction of a freedom. Even the
right to life implies the limitation of someone else's freedom to kill.
The restriction can be internal ("I think killing is wrong", or more
likely "I think killing for that reason is wrong") or external ("I don't
want to go to jail, be stigmatized, be killed by the relatives, etc").
A 'society' or 'culture' is essentially defined by the particular sets
of tradeoffs between rights and freedoms that the members of that
society have made, and agree to live by.
