Hi Marco.  I was just mentioning the fact that items which can be
transmitted in digital form are indivisible (can be reproduced many
times easily and without additional cost to the author).  Also (as you
know) Digital goods are non-rivalrous - their consumption does not
involve depriving the right of another user to also consume them.  Hence
digital intellectual property is not like a car or perhaps a bag of
wheat

The costs of transmitting an E-Book via the Internet is substantially
less than dealing with publishers, printers, paper sellers, ink dealers,
wholesalers, transporters, retailers and so on.

I was just mentioning that goods which can now use the Internet as their
primary means of redistribution and can access 1000 times more consumers
for 10 times less the distribution cost may need to reappraise their
costings.

I think its 'one' of the reasons that there is so much 'consumption
good' piracy (Mp3s, Videos, Books).  (+ also greed, laziness, theft,
sheer availability) Users in many countries think that $30AUD is too
much to pay for a downloaded CD they know the corporation just sold 20
million of and (after high intial costs) is virtually free to
redistribute.  


As for Mickey Mouse T-Shirts - that is a more laughable aspect for sure
(and frivolous example).  However you must question if consumers are
truly 'autonomous and free agents'.  Marketing creates objects of
necessity such as Mickey, Porsche and Coke?  But definitely the real
problem is kinds of intellectual property which have beneficial
properties for an entire community.
