I can't help with ACPI (your question "A"), but for "B", I
have currently RH7.3 on a Digital HiNote VP laptop and
kudzu detects hardware fine. My PCMCIA seems to work
without problems, as I connect to the LAN at work on it.
However, I could not get RH8 to install on it (it is an
old 166MHz machine, and is painfully slow at GUI work,
anyhow). In general, though, support gets greater with
newer versions - especially with current technology
equipment. Laptops have been traditionally trickier,
though.
For "C", my answer would only be a guess that it would.
You might want to try (if you have the time) the RH
development kernel. Or try Fedora (RH-sponsored
development version).
