Wine runs by creating a virtual C Drive that allows .dll and other files
to be placed where the program expects to find them. But it doesn't
change the file and user permissions, so it wouldn't allow a virus to
find or use what it expected to.

A minor technical point to note is that Wine is not an emulator. Also
give Wine 3 a whirl in your testing, it's a load faster.
