Shooting drives is fun...but with the rising cost of ammo, I really don't 
want to shoot 50 drives on my own...which is why I was looking at turning 
it into a group event "hard drive hunt".

I don't run that aspect of things, so I wouldn't know.  I just [think I] 
know that once fully depreciated, the stuff has a book value of $0 and so 
that's all the tax break you'd get donating it someplace.  As mentioned, 
we just gave a truck load of stuff to a guy who said he was taking it to 
the community college (and I knew/trusted him) for lab use, no questions 
asked, and no expectation of any tax benefit.  I figured we were just 
delaying that gear going to the landfil.  Most of this stuff isn't worth 
(current market value) what it would cost to ship if we could find a 
buyer.  The worst in that respect is our pair of cisco AS5814s.
