If you want to get creative, use a muzzle loader. You can vary the 
powder charge for different amounts of bullet penetration and widening. 
It's neat to see the deformed lead ball stuck in it's own hole as it 
starts to exit the case.

We practiced at the company summer cookout on broken alvarion radios, 
which are almost as ruggedly built as hard drives.

I'm waiting for tig welders to come down in price a little more, then 
I'll build something cool out of the sizeable collection of dead or 
dying IBM deathstars I have.
