Hi,
I am redesigning our core network, and wanted to query your collective
wisdom and experience.
I need to solve the following issues:
IP DSCP QoS
Scalability from gigabit to 10-gigabit in the future
redundancy, including fast handling of component failure
My initial thoughts are to use a pair of L3 switches at the core, each
with a full BGP routing table, so that outbound packets go directly to
the correct one of multiple Internet edge routers.
However, in my experience, it takes BGP a long time now to converge with
220,000 routes in the table, which provides wacky behavior in the meantime.
Any thoughts on a fault-tolerant architecture with fast failover
characteristics?
