Why would a "telco centrol office" be involved?

If you build a datacenter with the intent of using the local LEC as the
means of capacity, you have already lost.

Very nice statement that has little to do with fact -- at least in my world.

We operate about 60,000 feet of space in Northern NJ. As we have approached
customers -- both large 1800 sq-ft customers and small half cabinet
customers - the general consensus is that they want to be near their
equipment and data. I can't say that I see their reasoning for it, but it is
the data we have gotten back.

For sure, on the larger scale customers, they often have people in here
working on equipment, as frequently as every day.

Also, another issue to contend with -- if you are in Nowhere, ND or
Somewhere, WA, will you be able to get 2, or even 4 hour response from Dell,
HP, Cisco, IBM, EMC, or whoever?

If there was a silver bullet, everyone would know about it.
