Hmmm....I looked at both, and OpenNMS seems to be a bit more mature, but I can't say that there's a lot of automated assistance in filtering/ignoring syslog content or importing MIBs for SNMP traps. Does anyone have any operational experience with OpenNMS' syslog and snmp trap handling? I imagine that open nms or jffnms can meet your needs. I have generally built custom log analysis tools for applicaton specific events and then used an nms for stock things.
