Here in the State of Minnesota anything with a circuit board must be recycled. There are multiple facilities that do this service. I would have to believe there is something reasonably close to where you are at. As a last resort, you might ask your local Best Buy where they take stuff for recycling. Best Buy accepts consumer electronics for recycling for free except TVs (and other large stuff) where they charge a fee and then give you a gift card for the same amount.
