With real (dedi) servers, our "normal" setup is to assign a /28 and give the dedi a L3 switchport configured as the first usable IP in their /28. For the VPS's we're looking at giving each VPS a single IP. The bridged VPS setup is akin to having a bunch of customers in a shared subnet on a L2 switch. The sort of games that can be played on customer boxes in this setup is one of the reasons we stopped doing that sort of setup many years ago. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jon Lewis | I route Senior Network Engineer | therefore you are Atlantic Net | _________ http://www.lewis.org/~jlewis/pgp for PGP public key_________ -- Eat sushi frequently. - Avi [email protected] is the human contact address.
