You pay extra for bandwidth - but it sounds like your bandwidth charges will be very small. I've been using it for about a year with no issues. http://www.rackspacecloud.com/cloud_hosting_products/servers/pricing Alternatively, a google premium account will get you spam proof email for $50/user/year with a web interface. I used to run my own sendmail/dns/spam-filters/pine on my own hardware - then figured out that it was costing me $35/month for the electric power (UPS and Airconditioning) just to run my own server. Not to mention capital equipment costs and the time to re-work the spam filters every couple of months. I've got filters/folders setup (pine style) for all my techie lists and googles search engine helps me find stuff faster in my email than I could with the unix command line. dnsmadeeasy.com for DNS - the interface it a pain and slow/painful to use for the experienced unix saavy admin - but its OK for a small number of domains that don't change that often. And did I mention inexpensive! Or how about a hybrid solution? google premium for email and use the imap4 access to your own MUA on rackspacecloud with the gmail browser interface as backup. Personally, if you use the gmail interface via a browser for awhile you won't go back to pine - thats what happed to me - and I was a *long* time pine user.
