A variety of places have free wireless, from the affore mentioned coffee
shops and pub to places like the royal festival hall.
The Cloud (http://www.thecloud.net) and btopenzone
(http://www.btopenzone.com/) are probably the 2 biggest paid for providers.
and sites like timeout
(http://www.timeout.com/london/aroundtown/features/6187/1.html )
sometimes list places with free wifi.
        Cant really help with paris or portugal i'm afraid.
