I prefer to store and manage all my e-mail in one mailbox, and Exchange and
Outlook lets me do that.  Not sure if you were suggesting that I use IMAP
and different client for listerv e-mail, and Outlook for everything else.

Not a flame, just a point:

Since you get to choose your email client, using a broken one is hardly a 
reason to resort to a writing style you don't believe in.
