Re: bit.ly urls

I'm baffled.  It's as if no one on this list knows what bit.ly is?  The 
whole point of using a special domain for a bit.ly URL is to have the 
resulting link be as short as possible.  In order for that to work, the 
bit.ly domain needs to be as short as possible.  Examples include: NY 
Times (nyti.ms), TechCrunch (tcrn.ch) and The Huffington Post (huff.to)

It is NOT POSSIBLE to find a suitable domain for a bit.ly URL on the 
traditional TLDs (.com, .org, .net, etc.) because short domain names for 
those TLDs are already taken.  In order to find a suitable domain one 
needs to search across the less-used country TLDs such as .ms, .ch, .to 
etc. (as the examples above show).

Doesn't search ALL domains.  Dumps you into GoDaddy for search results.  
Why do this, unless the goal is to sniff the search queries and then 
register the name before the person can register it for themselves?

Doesn't search ALL domains.  They have the ability to search across a 
fairly large number of domains, but no way to do it in *one* search.   
This is the closest I've found so far to what I'm looking for, but it's 
very tedious to go one-by-one thru the possible TLDs.
