co.za domain parking question

I am interested in starting an online venture, but the name
I had in mind has already been registered and is parked by
sedoparking.com (A well known domain parking / domain
trader), I will digress from calling them domain 'squatters'.

Since I do not own any trademarks, and I certainly do not
want to make any expenses registering said trademarks if I
know I'm not going to get the domain, what are my options
except for paying the current registrant / sedoparking
a lot of cash?

Also, since the registrant has no intention of using the 
domain other than selling it for profit, and the .co.za
ADR needs atleast R10k of my money to hear my case, do I
have any other options other than picking a new domain name?
