You know what, 419 scams are also a business, and a big one at that. And so
is email spam.

Domain squatting has a real cost effect on businesses IMHO even if it's a
somewhat artificial resource, but we're always shunning one behaviour and
not another based on the level of pain it causes rather than a consistent
standard of business practice.

You could argue something like degrees of right towards a domain like
http://mango.co.za/, but when the reason for a domain conflict is one
parties desire to deliberately cause that conflict and profit from it in the
first place I'm hard pressed to agree with it.

Either way, you'll never convince me that a co.za domain is a necessity for
a business. Kulula, SAA and many other SA businesses at least seem to agree
even if they have co.za redirects. In the days of Google are people honestly
still bashing random domain names into their address bar and then looking
distraught when they land in the wrong place? At least 80% of non-technical
people I speak to don't realise immediately that domain appendages have any
significance at all let alone geographic.
