Hi all I send all my email using Google's smtp servers and frequently encounter the message below. My understanding is that it was generated because the ISP concerned chooses to use SORBS as a blacklist for spam filtering: -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Delivery Status Notification (Failure) Date: Wed, 06 Apr 2011 07:46:22 +0000 From: Mail Delivery Subsystem <mailer-daemon-gM/[email protected]> To: ... Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: ... Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 554 554 5.7.1 Service unavailable; Client host [74.125.82.172] blocked using dnsbl.sorbs.net; Currently Sending Spam See: http://www.sorbs.net/lookup.shtml?74.125.82.172 (state 14). I further understand that SORBS is badly maintained - if at all - and a constant pain in the arse for those ISPs wise enough not to use it. The questions are: is my understanding of the situation correct? is it fair to call ISPs who use SORBS idiots? regards b _______________________________________________ IOZ mailing list [email protected] http://lists.internet.org.za/mailman/listinfo/ioz
