SA spammer logic

How is this for SA Spammer Logic: 

1. Spammer sends me unsolicited commercial email marketing
his specials

2. I, in a nice email request to be unsubscribed and that I not
be sent unsolicited spam ever again 

3. Spammer answers, sorry that I did not appreciate the special
they have no idea how I could possibly not need the XYZ Gizmo 14
and they will no longer email me

4. Then another spam email from the same spammer

5. I send a not so nice, you are an evil spammer stop emailing me

6. Spammer answers that I did not click on the provided link in the
email and therefore I was not unsubscribed

7. Spammer sends me some more spam

8. I tell the spammer that he is a low life scummy criminal and that he is
also in criminal violation of the consumer protection act 

9. Spammer responds by emailing me the ECT Act where it says that
an unsolicited email has to have an unsubscribe link.

*sigh*

Now imagine that 500 000 small businesses start sending out spam 
every month and then every week and then every day and they all buy
the various illegal databases floating around and one tries to teach
each and every one of them not only how to work their "insert name
of favourite mailinglist manager here" account, so they can remove you,
but also have to have the same argument over and over and over...

And as businesses look to cheaper forms of marketing email is definately
in the line of fire. Possibly the SAPS should do a few high profile criminal
convictions and the press market these, so that email can survive as
a communication tool?
