Just because additional costs are unknown doesn't invalidate the argument for bandwidth costs. The figures aren't represented as anything more than bandwidth cost, and the model is simple - average ingres spam per user * estimated users in SA * median size per message * median cost. Do you have a flaw in that to point out, or are you asking for a broader model which is actually impossible to structure accurately given the massive variance in the value of individual peoples time? It's a simple concept, if a man walks up to you in the street and asks for a fiver and then tries to sell you something that you don't want, you'll punch him in the face and demand your fiver back. In any other medium than email advertising subsidises cost to the target for whatever they're really doing (reading the newspaper, watching a movie, etc). If the cost to the people being targeted for advertising is >0 then there is a problem. _______________________________________________ IOZ mailing list [email protected] http://lists.internet.org.za/mailman/listinfo/ioz
