ISPA / INX-ZA Fellowship Award

The African Peering and Interconnection Forum (AFPIF) is a key meeting
place for ISPs and network operators across the African continent to
discuss and collaborate on the important issues around improving
interconnection in Africa. This annual meeting will be held in
Maputo, Mozambique from 25-27 August 2014.
We understand that it may be difficult for our participants and
stakeholders from South Africa to attend the upcoming AFPIF-2015. In
response, ISPA is providing a Fellowship award to enable active
participants at the Internet exchanges (or INX working group) to attend
free of charge.

How to apply for a fellowship
-----------------------------
1. Submit a written application for the fellowship with the
following information:
a). Indicate the name of the individual applicant, as well as the
departure city.
b). Provide a plan of how you intend to socialise the AFPIF-2015 event
to your organisation and community between now and the start of the
event.
c). Provide information on how you intend to share your experiences
with the community upon your return from the AfPIF event. In
particular outline how you will use what you learn at the AfPIF
event to improve the state of interconnections in your community.
2. Send the written application to [email protected]
3. The deadline for submission is 23h59 UTC, 27 July 2015. Any
submissions sent thereafter will be ignored.
4. The notifications for acceptance will be sent by 23h59 UTC, 31 July
2015 in order to initiate visa processing and travel logistics.

Note that successful fellows will be expected to produce a write-up or
give a public presentation on their experiences at the event.
Conference Fellowship Terms and Conditions
1. Attendance
Fellows are expected to attend all sessions during the
AFPIF-2015 Conference. This includes but is not limited to, Tutorials,
Seminars, Newcomers events, and all Social Events.
2. Participation
Fellows should be subscribed to, or subscribe to the relevant INX and
AFPIF-2015 mailing lists.
3. ISPA will book and pay for the fellow's travel. Travel insurance is
optional, and insurance fees are the sole responsibility of the Fellow.
Fellows must make their own arrangements regarding transport to
and from the airport and hotel.
4. Hotel accommodation will be booked by ISPA in a reasonably priced
hotel close to the Conference venue. Fellows are responsible for any
incidental room charges (including telephone calls, room service, and
Internet connectivity, etc) and will likely be required to provide a
credit card,or security deposit upon check in.
5. ISPA is not responsible for obtaining passports or visas for Fellows
and is not responsible for any costs incurred by Fellows when applying
for and obtaining a passport or Visa. Applicants must already hold a
valid passport. AFPIF will provide an invitation letter in order to
fulfil visa requirements upon registration.
6. ISPA will not accept responsibility for the personal health, safety,
or belongings of Fellows.
7. In the event a selected Fellow cannot attend the AFPIF-6 event due
to unforeseen emergency circumstances, they may submit a written
deferment request. ISPA will evaluate the request and may elect to
resubmit the Fellowship application for consideration by the Fellowship
Selection Committee for the next appropriate Conference
8. Fellows are required to complete a Post-Conference Fellowship
Program Evaluation. A link to the survey will be provided and Fellows
agree to respond within the stated deadline.
9. Publicity
Fellows agree to have their name, affiliation, and place
of origin announced on the ISPA website, and mailing list announcements.
10. Please note that if a Fellow fails to comply with any one of the
above-mentioned terms and conditions of the INX Fellowship Program, ISPA
reserves the right to determine the appropriate course of action.
