Sounds like you have had some interesting experience with "recruiters" :)

Best advice that I have is not to deal (or even talk to) any
recruiter/recruiting company that you have not met face to face.

(not skype, not email, not anything other than actually sitting across
an actual physical table)

The worst experiences we have had with recruiters, when looking for
staff, is when we have not actually had a physical meeting...

Strangely, not many of the Google "tips" for employers or employees
actually have this in even the top three important things :)

imho, it is the most important thing...
