Hi Everybody,

DNCL attended the NZNOG conference in January, and talked about the policy
consultation on Port 43 WHOIS requirements. You can read more about that
consultation and the submissions here https://dnc.org.nz/port-43. Thanks
to those NZNOG members who provided a submission.

The DNCL Board has considered all submissions, and decided that the
information returned via Port 43 will be reduced. Port 43 queries will
continue to show domain name availability, Registrar contact details and
name server details (including DS records). It will no longer show contact
details of Registrant, Admin or Technical contacts, or the date billed
until information. Though this information will still be available on the
DNCL website (http://www.dnc.org.nz/).

DNCL and InternetNZ/NZRS are working on a plan to implement the changes in
early April 2018.

If you have any questions regarding the process or decision feel free to
drop a line to [email protected]
