DNS Flag day - What you need to know

Starting in July 2018 InternetNZ has been monitoring and measuring how .nz
domains will be affected by DNS Flag day. For those who don't know, DNS
Flag Day, or 1 February 2019, has been set by a number of DNS software
developers as a coordinated day to release new DNS software versions. The
changes will remove DNS protocol workarounds related to EDNS. You can find
more information at https://dnsflagday.net

InternetNZ has been actively notifying affected DNS Operators, Registrars
and Registrants in the past weeks, and the situation has greatly improved.
If you haven't tested your authoritative nameservers, we strongly suggest
you do. There are still a few high profile .nz domains affected.

I'll be presenting about this topic during the next NZNOG meeting in
Napier, with a description of what's changing, how the problem has been
evolving for .nz and other interesting bits and pieces. There are a number
of DNS software implementors involved, as well as a number of ccTLDs
measuring and campaigning to reduce the number of domains affected.
