oooo good one! Yeah, you just can't create "every other weekend" with 
the custom weekly rule if wkst is Sunday.

That use case even makes sense. :) Matching a user preference doesn't 
really help -- no one is going to figure that out (or want to change it 
for the recurring event if they like looking at Sunday start calendars).

Well, you've convinced me that not setting it makes sense after all.
