Announcement I have created and registered two channels, both unofficial: irc://irc.freenode.net/##caldav-google irc://irc.freenode.net/##caldav-google irc://irc.freenode.net/##caldav-interop irc://irc.freenode.net/##caldav-interop Within each channel: the topic should be self-explanatory, and may be refined if needs arise. Intention In unofficial venues such as this, users may: speak freely about their first impression of a problem gain direction address a request for support, a request that is more refined, to the organisation that is best placed to consider the issue(s). Background ' http://groups.google.com/group/calaboration-discuss/browse_thread/thread/8b023631ae28e9ea>" What a nuisance this program is ' is exemplary of a discussion that has little or nothing to do with the thing ( http://code.google.com/p/calaboration/ Calabaration ) on which a Group is focused. Within and beyond the Calabaration area, there exist other examples of off-topic, sometimes frustrated discussions. Without being pessimistic: we (users and developers of CalDAV-oriented products and services) may reasonably expect occasional streams of 'confused newcomers'. These streams may be larger following any significant product/service announcement. For reference only, an extract from http://archive.osafoundation.org/irc-logs/chandler.log.20081226 http://archive.osafoundation.org/irc-logs/chandler.log.20081226 : [05:44] <grahamperrin> JeffreyH and osaf-log: minor announcement of two unofficial channels ##caldav-interop and ##caldav-google [05:45] <grahamperrin> Topics may be refined in due course. [05:47] <grahamperrin> The value of the latter became clear as I observed some very off-topic pleas for help in a Google Group for a Google Code product, [05:47] <grahamperrin> a product intended for one-off use by Apple iCal users of Google Calendar. [05:48] Action: grahamperrin quits to take lunch! -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/Two-new-unofficial-channels---caldav-interop-and---caldav-google-tp2015839p2015839.html Sent from the chandler-dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Open Source Applications Foundation "chandler-dev" mailing list http://lists.osafoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/chandler-dev
