Katie and I were talking about examples of good mailing list summaries. It's easier to show than to tell, so here are some examples of summaries that I like. Kernel-Traffic was the cadillac of summaries, but unfortunately, the summarizer burned out: http://www.kerneltraffic.org/kernel-traffic/kt20051127_335.html The Python-dev summary is also really good http://www.python.org/dev/summary/2006-01-01_2006-01-15/ Debian's weekly news is not really a summary, but gives a different angle http://www.debian.org/News/weekly/2006/10/ The Dr. Dobbs Python-URL! is a different take -- it points out good/interesting threads http://lwn.net/Articles/174597/ I just like the use of color in the Ruby Weekly news summaries http://www.rubyweeklynews.org/20060305.html Many of these are indexed from the Linux Weekly News <http://lwn.net>, which is a great resource.
