Thanks for your interest in Chandler!

We are currently working on a Preview release of Chandler, due out  
this spring. This release is primarily targeted at small workgroups  
collaborating on shared calendars and tasks. Initially we will have  
some experimental email support but this is primarily so that users  
can send and receive event and task notifications. We will also have  
the ability for users to get email into Chandler from POP or iMAP  
accounts but this is mainly to support calendaring and task  
management and not meant for high-volume email management. The longer  
term vision of Chandler is to be a full-fledged email client with  
many of the features you have described, but we are not quite there yet.

So in brief, Chandler Preview won't be able to replace Outlook.  
However, we are hoping that small workgroups will try using it as a  
complement to the email clients they use today. Our hope is that over  
time, Chandler will prove to be more effective than email for shared  
task management and collaborative information management.  
Additionally, although we aren't really shooting for a target of  
interop with Exchange, we are certainly interested in collaborating  
with developers who are interested in that goal.

As far as migrating data is concerned, Chandler supports the ability  
to import Calendar data in the iCalendar(.ics) format. I know there  
are several tools available to export calendar data from MS Outlook  
in this format. Eventually we will support task as well as address  
book migration but for the short-term, we are handling calendar data  
only.
