That  is strange.  All menu  aware  packages update  the menu  entries
automatically for you.

Please read the  manpage for update-menus and do  whatever you feel is
appropriate for your setup.

Another problem  could be because  the upgrade puts the  executable as
(example)  /usr/bin/foo1.2 while the  menu entry  expects /usr/bin/foo
thus causing th menu not to work.

Mostly happens with  Mozilla for me, and no Idea how  to solve if this
is the problem you are facing.
