Prakash,

There may be two reasos - you may have to
rebuild the initrd image (very unlikely).

Other possibility is some thing is wrong with
the kernel paramaters in /boot/grub/menu.lst.

look for a line which begins with ``kernel'' and
check if "root=/dev/xxxx" contains the correct
entry for your root / partition. For you, I think
it should be ``root=/dev/sda8''.
