Hi,

I was cherfully working with ubuntu till i wanted to lock my grub. I
went to the command mode of the grub and typed md5crypt pass
i noted it down (correctly, coz i made someone also check it).
Then i booted up and made the entry in /boot/grub/menu.lst
password --md5 $11231231231lljhkj (something like that)

Now when i use my machine, i cannot run any root priveledged programs
from the X. It asks for the password and then nothing happens. Just
waits for a long time - about 4 minutes and then it pops up. Everytime
i have to open a program with root only execute, i have to wait this
long.

What do i do???

I didnt do anything other than editing that entry in the menu.lst. Now
i put it back to the state i found it. still same error. Btw, I did
one more thing. Just to test, i entered init=/bin/sh after the kernel
line in the boot parameter. I then pressed enter and booted in to that
mode i got soemthing like sh# .After I saw i could access all the
files, I did a reboot. Since then I had the problem.

Please help
