Ubuntu Installation problem--Help needed

Dear Friends, I have installed ubuntu 5.10 in my pc with sata harddisk. during installation there was no problem faced but after the installation and during the first bootup the system hangs at displaying a message like looking for hotplug subsystem. Is there any problem with sata hdd and ubuntu??please reply me if any solution regarding this trouble.
