Try to use digikam (www.digikam.org). I think it is the best and feature
rich application in the linux world to manage photos especially from Digital
cameras. Additional image viewer comes with digikam is showFoto.

If u want to try a proprietary once in GNU/Linux, go for Google's Picassa (
picasa.google.com).

Please reach us ur satisfaction after trying out these applications.
