No probs for me. When I start pfaedit, I get the following:-

   `Copyright (c) 2000-2004 by George Williams.
   Executable based on sources from 08:28 11-Jan-2004.'

It is coming from debian testing.

Right Now, I am working from Element > Font Info for a new file. See
the attach for what I did in fifteen minutes. 

I think indic substitution is in MacSM > Indic tab and gsub tables
are to come from info in this menu. correct me if I am wrong.

There is a bug though. There is no entry for Malayalam in Element >
Font Info > TTF names  menu. Will you file a bug report?
