Yes. I did get confused.

But the Translation HOWTO, on p. 7, after saying that `this thing is
country related', goes on to say:-

`mkdir XX (XX stands for ISO language codes like `de', which can be
found here)'             ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

And `here' in the above sentence  is a link to:-

 http://lcweb.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/englangn.html

That page  gives `ml' as  the code for  Malayalam; not Mali.   But the
sources from 3.2.0 I got have  ml for Mali; not Malayalam. This is why
I posted the original query.
