Dear Mahesh Pai, and other friends,

Yes, it is necessary to create another keymap, as
Inscript doesnt support some necessary characters used
in Unicode based input methods.

The Rachana group is promoting a keymap based on
Inscript, with the following additions:

Here are the keys:

] = Zero Width Joiner
| = Zero Width Non Joiner (Shift+\)

ZWJ and ZWNJ are used for selecting alternative
renderings in chill forms and non-chill-ed conjucts.

In addition, there are 2 vowel forms: (very rarely
used methinks)

^ - extended RR (Shift+6)
& - extended LL (Shift+7)

Please note that I am not representative of the
Rachana group, and that there may be changes (ie,
additions) to this layout, as need arises.

Also, Mahesh, if you could please tell how easy it is
for the user to switch languages/keymaps on the fly in
the environments - console, KDE and GNOME ?

And, with due respect to Anand Parthasarathy, Rachana
is not a _font_, although development of the Rachana
OTF Font is a big part of Rachana's movement. It has a
higher aim of giving life to the Traditional Malayalam
script which can be done without a font as such. The
font thing stuck only because of historical reasons -
it was a tactical choice, and should not be confused
with Rachana strategy.

Btw, I think Mahesh he meant the GPL : i guess that
shows that the masses must be "culturally re-educated"
in the GNU philosophy before they stop making mistakes
like that :)

Happy Malayalam :)
Rajeev J Sebastian
