Developments at Unicode

The  Unicode consortium has  released a  proposal on  Clarification on
Consolidation of the  function of Zero Width Joiner  in Indic scripts,
from Peter Constable of Microsoft for public review.

Responses to  the document should  be posted before 3rd  August, 2004,
using the following URI:-

Discussing  it on  this (or  any  other) mailing  list is  of no  use,
Unicode will look only at responses submitted through the above URI.

Of course, if  we propose to arrive at  a consensus amongst ourselves,
and make a joint proposal to the Unicode consortium, we can discuss it
here.

IMHO, people who  work on (or are otherwise  concerned with) rendering
engines should pay particular attention to this proposal.
