Alternative to Google / OpenDNS for realiability / performance in India

Hi,

Since last night my BSNL DNS server (Bangalore) is having problems, and it
seems that GoogleDNS is also unusable for the moment. Trying to look for
alternatives, I found about OpenDNS and then some article that indicates
that using Google/OpenDNS can give suboptimal performance, because of their
algorithms redirecting traffic to closest Akamai CDN cluster.

Wondering if there are similar open DNS servers that are reliable and
provide good performance for use within India ?
