I feel TRAI's charter is in serious need for an amendment that forces it to
look out for the interests of the customers/public over the interests of
industry.

First with the whole unsolicited calls/SMS fiasco, they drafted their stupid
solutions based on the industry's "right to spam" rather than the customers
"right to privacy" and have imposed illogical limits on communication.

And now this "industry consultation" called based on the telcos "right to
profits". Will they next entertain requests from India Post and various
Courier companies to levy a charge on email/online storage service providers?

It's time the telcos realise that they themselves are mere OTT providers
piggybacking on public land and airwaves and public interest should always
trump their selfish interests.
