IMO, it is "Web Adulterant" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adulterant. copyright violation does not applicable here because they (Airtel) are not publishing their (Google/Yahoo) content somewhere else. They are altering/mixing their data streams. This is highly unethical and companies those who do so should be fined heavily. Infact companies like google/yahoo must file some legal case on these Internet carriers (airtel etc). Google adding/injecting script on their domain pages is much much different than somebody else doing so with google's pages. its like pizza make adding some extra stuff is different than delivery boy adding some extra stuff over your pizza. 2015-06-09 17:05 GMT+05:30 Tarun Dua <lists-w/I/[email protected]>: > Modifying web pages authored and copyrighted by other entities and > modifying content without their consent should constitute a copyright > violation IMHO ( I am not a lawyer ). > > Whatever their motivations I don't care. > > -Tarun > > On Tue, Jun 9, 2015 at 1:58 PM, Kiritkumar Lathia <[email protected]> > wrote: > > All on-line companies (including search engines) collect browsing data, > > history, internet behaviour, etc. for "better experience" - the so > called > > "big data" which is then processed through analytics to provide targeted > > marketing, etc. so I should not be surprised by what airtel and co are > > doing. > > > > As you remember, I had suggested that most of these data are "warehoused" > > outside India to avoid Indian laws concerning privacy. > > > > So what I suspect is that the data collected is warehoused by Israeli > > company. > > > > Again, without knowing the details, it is highly likely that all Airtel > > users have allowed it to collect data - so nothing unusual there. > > > > Neither is move vy Israeli co move to stop a hacker, however benevolent. > > BR > > Kirit > > > > On Jun 9, 2015 9:15 AM, "Banibrata Dutta" <[email protected]> > wrote: > >> > >> http://www.storypick.com/airtel-sends-legal-notice-indian-coder/ > >> > >> As per the above article: > >> Airtel (& Vodafone, but not clear if in India) are customers of services > >> provided by an Israel based company called Flash networks, who > apparently > >> inject references to a Javascript that then tracks user behaviour, and > >> perhaps such information is shared back with the customers. > >> > >> An Indian hacker based in Bangalore found this and did an expose, but > has > >> got a "Cease and Desist" letter from the Israel based company !!
