Thaths (?), I very much enjoyed your answers which provides an insight that I do not have. If you look at the first email in this chain, A run suggested that ISPs will have to have their employees to go through a website to determine there is no paedophilia material before unblocking it. I suggested that if I were ISP, I would not have my employees do verification. You seem to think a website is like a book and so blocking all 857 sites would be like burning a library. An interesting insight and analogy. My poor understanding is that once a book is printed, it's contents do not change. A (porn or social media) website changes continuously and so impossible to monitor by human being and moreover an ISP can not dictate contents of a website. This means, in my poor understanding, that to not burn library, an ISP needs to monitor contents of both downstream and upstream traffic by powerful bots and block paedophilia content which is also impossible and worrying. Your implied solution is that ISPs should ignore court / government ruling, be in contempt of court, pay fines and/or go to jail so that the library is not burnt down. I love your solution! Best wishes, P.S.: I will not be replying anymore to your interesting observations. He is insinuating that there is a dark nexus of people who are set against implementing the DoT orders because of financial interests. I want to ask him to substantiate this claim that there is money to be made from producing and distributing porn in India and that this is actually happening. As Suresh and Atanu have pointed out, India is a very price sensitive, and repressed ("what if my parents, significant other find out that I pay for Suicide Girls?") market. And giving out credit card numbers online is not a widespread practice. > If I were ISP, I would continue to block all identified sites to avoid > legal problems , as it is totally impossible to ensure that there is no > child porn. > Right. Let's also burn some libraries because some books in the library are unpalatable.
