Back in December I bought an Asus WL500gp 802.11b/g router that was
listed on the OpenWRT site as a compatible unit.  Indeed it is
compatible.  I have the wireless disabled and am using it strictly as my
main router to my ISP.  It is my DHCP server and DNS cache with DNS
Masq.  Now I am setting it up to be the end point of an IPv6 tunnel so I
can add IPv6 capability to my LAN.

The embedded distributions for the various router hardware is powerful
in ways that the stock firmware can't even begin to support.  If your
hardware is capable give an embedded distro a spin.
