With sufficient swap space, you can run just about any programs you choose, just so damn slow without sufficient amount of physical RAM. Knoppix was pretty cool that I could try out how linux/KDE would run on my main PC. (Which it worked pretty good, especially considering all apps running off of CD) One thing I didn't like is the inability to try out software that is not loaded by default. I wanted to try Japanese input system and binary news reader, since those are 2 key factors for me to ditch Win2k completely and convert to Linux full time at home.
